In 2026 the Dan Forshaw Quartet sold out Peggy’s Skylight. On Saturday 13 February 2027 the band returns to Nottingham with a new album.
The Long Way Here is Dan Forshaw’s fifteenth album as a leader and his first album of ballads. Over lunch in 2016, Branford Marsalis told him not to record one until he was over forty. He waited ten years.
This is the night after the London launch at Pizza Express Dean Street, and the first chance to hear the album live outside London.
Ballads are the heart of the set, not the whole of it. Songs from the record, including Dan’s own Ti Amo and John Coltrane’s Central Park West, sit alongside the tunes that filled the room last time.
The quartet: Lewis James on piano and Guy Dempsey on bass, both Royal Academy of Music graduates, with Lewis Kentaro Isaacs on drums. All three are former students of Dan’s. Isaacs made his debut with the band at Saffron Hall aged 15.
The 2026 date sold out. Book early.
